What else do we do?

Manage public computing services. The Library has seventeen public computers in our reference area that provide free, high-speed internet access, plus twelve public computers in our computer lab that provide free access to Microsoft Office. The computer lab may be reserved by outside groups for training activities. (How?) The Library also provides free wireless internet access and wireless printing for patrons to use with their laptops.

Those with a baby or young child in their care may borrow a library laptop (with wireless internet access) in the Children’s Room.

Fax Services: The Library has a public fax service located on the bottom floor. Rates are $1.50 for the first page and $1.00 for each page after. Patrons must use a credit card or a pre-paid fax card which is available for sale at the Library.

Schedule group study rooms. The Library’s three group study rooms comfortably accommodate small meetings and study sessions for up to six people. The rooms may be reserved up to one week in advance (reservations are accepted for pairs and groups only). The rooms may also be used by anyone (including single users) on a walk-in basis. To reserve a study room, please call the Reference Desk at 333-6640 ext. 4.
Offer introductory computer classes. The Library offers introductory computer help for people who are absolutely new to computers most every Thursday from 9 - 11 and need to learn at a relaxed, enjoyable pace. In addition, our Computers for Job Seekers classes covers how to use a computer to create a resume and send it electronically via email. For upcoming classes, check our monthly events calendar.
Provide a test proctoring service. With the huge expansion of educational and degree opportunities available through distance education programs, more and more people need a reliable and easily accessible place to have tests proctored. So, to help meet this demand, the Library offers a test proctoring service. To have an exam proctored at the Library, please see our test proctoring policy and application form.
Provide a local history-genealogy search service. This allows genealogy researchers in other states - or those who can’t visit the library in person - to request specific information they need from our community’s yearbooks, newspapers, and city directories. To submit a search request, please see our Genealogy and Local History Search Service Guidelines.
Offer programs and activities for adults. These include book discussions, craft programs, author visits, classic movies, public forums on community issues, and many others. For more about APL programs for adults, see our adult programs page. For listings of upcoming programs, see our events calendar.
Provide programs and services for teens. The Library has a beautiful new space for teens on the second floor that provides room to socialize and hang out with friends, play board games, use the teen computers, and read, study and do homework. The Library provides a rich and varied collection of materials especially for teens, both for recreational reading and to support school research and homework assignments, and we offer a wide variety of programs and activities for teens throughout the year. For more about APL programs for teens, see our teen programs page. For listings of upcoming programs, see our events calendar.
