Chewonki’s Scales & Tales program will discuss the important role reptiles play in the natural world. With the help of live animals, real turtle shells, snake skins, skeletons and other reptilian artifacts, this program will give participants an opportunity to develop respect and a better understanding of these fascinating creatures.

KIDS! Make it/Take it workshop, Dec. 23

Join us for a drop-in Holiday Make-it Take-it Workshop. Kids can make holiday cards, small gifts, and ornaments for their families for the holidays. All materials will be provided by he library. Let’s Pretend Starts October 7!

Friday mornings October 7, 14, 21, and 28th, at 10AM
A four-week play group for children from ages 2-5. Come join us as we explore different professions with your young child. Each week we will read a story about different themes, create a related craft, and have fun pretending. Let your child’s imagination soar! Join us for one session or come to all four. Free. Halloween Costume Swap

Don’t be scared by the high price tags on Halloween costumes. Swap instead of shop! Join the Auburn Public Library at a parent and planet friendly event! Our costume swap is recycling at its most fun! Kids get new-to-them costumes, and parents save money …and the planet!

Here’s how it works:
• Donate your swap-able costumes to the library before 9/30.
• In exchange for each complete, clean, gently worn costume, you will receive 1 swap ticket to claim a new-to-you costume at the 10/1/ event.
• No costume to swap? Still want to shop? Stop by the event after 2:30 pm and purchase any costume for a $5 donation which will support children’s programs. Drop off your costumes in the APL Children’s Room between 9/19 -9/30

Be a Nutrition Detective! August 5

Be a Nutrition Detective! Join Jenn Tyler on Friday, August 5th at 11am. Miss Jenn will be back to present her Nutrition detectives program geared for toddlers though early elementary kids. With stories, songs and activities, kids will learn how food fuels their bodies. Call the library at 333-6640 ext.3 to register or register online. Best for ages 2-8.

Mad Science Physics Olympics, August 15

Get ready for the Mad Science Physics Olympics! We will wind down our 2016 summer reading program with a visit from our favorite mad scientists. This show explores the FUN-damentals of the science of sports. We will light the Mad Science Olympic torch with a spectacular combustion reaction and the fun takes off from there!  This show is best for kids ages 4-12 and their families.
