The Auburn Public Library has a part-time opening (15 hours per week) for a talented administrative assistant.   You can join a team with a strong culture of service to the community and a warm and welcoming environment.   The assistant provides general support for the staff with programming promotion; fundraising; newsletters; working with vendors; and creating documents, databases, and spreadsheets.  The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with 1 to 3 years of experience.  An associate’s degree or higher is preferred.  A qualified candidate will possess strong writing and editing skills and competence in common PC software suites.  A complete job description can be found on the Library’s website at www.auburnpubliclibrary.org.  Compensation will depend on experience and education.

POSITION AVAILABLE: LENDING SERVICES ASSOCIATE

The Auburn Public Library seeks a responsible, people-orientated person for a part-time associate position (17 hours per week) at our Lending Services desk. We also have a position for 12 hours at the Lending Services desk, and 5 hours processing new materials.

This public service position assists the public with borrowing materials, answering routine questions related to library services, and providing reader’s advisory services. The Lending Services associate must be able to work effectively at the Lending Desk providing excellent customer service to customers of all ages, and use good judgment when dealing with the public. The ideal candidate will be well read in popular authors and books and able to convey enthusiasm for titles and authors to customers.

Minimum requirements include high school diploma (some college preferred), excellent  customer service skills, good attention to detail, and knowledge of recent popular books and genres.  Experience in a library, customer service or sales position is a plus.  Candidates should also have knowledge of basic office procedures and skills in basic arithmetic.

Position Available: Reference Associate

The Auburn Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing Library Associate for 17.5 hours/week, which includes evenings and weekends, to work in our adult/teen/technology area.  The Associate assists with providing information services, collection maintenance, and programming.   Day-to-day responsibilities include technology (including our media lab and 3D printer); social media assistance; monitoring activities in public spaces and the Teen Space; answering reference questions; and adult/teen program assistance.   Starting pay is $12.00/hour.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a proven record of strong customer service experience, and being well-read in recent popular books and genres. Preference will be given for familiarity with both Apple and PC products. Familiarity with desktop publishing software is a plus.
