The Auburn Public Library is now accepting applications for Teen Volunteers for the fall (September-November) . If you are between the ages of 12 and 18, love the APL, and would like to give back to your community, this is the place for you! We have the following volunteer positions available —
Shelf Reader (2 positions) – Shelves books, refiles periodicals, and does shelf-reading (making sure that books are in proper alphabetical and numerical order), ensuring that books are where they belong. Straightens shelves so books look neat and appealing to customers. At the beginning of each month, shelf readers will also assist in pulling books to be taken off the “NEW” status as directed.
Program Assistant – Anime Club (1st Wednesday), Gaming Hour (2nd Wednesday & 4th Friday), DIY (3rd Wednesday) – Must be available on these days for 1 ½-2 hours to assist in set up, remain during the event to provide help as needed, and assist with take down and clean up following the event.
Book Reviewer – For the teen who is an avid reader (and writer!), this person will write a weekly or bi-weekly book review, 1 to 2 paragraphs in length, which will get posted to our webpage, “Teens Talk Books.”
Book Display/Flyer Design Assistant – This teen will create flyers for book displays and upcoming programs. This position also includes putting together book lists for upcoming displays, pulling books for these, and switching out the displays.
Teen Tech Tutor – This position involves assisting one afternoon or evening a week in either our MacIntosh Media Lab or PC Computer Lab.
