We are conveniently located on the corner of Court and Spring Street in downtown Auburn. There is plenty of off-street parking.
3. Can I use the Internet at the library?
We have Internet access terminals for the public to use. Anyone with an Auburn Public Library card may use them. Guest cards are available for non-card holders. Children can access the Internet at the library only with signed permission from their parents or guardian.
4. How
can I get a library card?
All you have to do is come to the library to fill out an application and show us proof of address. If you’re from Lewiston or Auburn, you can get a card for no charge. There is a fee for non-Auburn or Lewiston residents. There is a $1.00 fee for replacement cards, if you lose your library card.
5. If
I’m not from Auburn can I get a library card?
Any Maine resident or anyone residing temporarily in Maine can get a card. If you live in or pay property taxes to Lewiston or Auburn, you can get a card for no charge. There is a fee for people living outside Auburn or Lewiston.
6. I’m a teacher working in Auburn and
need to use library materials for my classroom; do I still have to pay for a
card?
If you’re a faculty member of one of Auburn’s public or private schools or community education programs, you do not have to pay for a card.
7. Do
you have children’s programs?
The library offers a variety of children’s programs, activities, and events that include preschoolers’ story times and baby time lap sits. Stop by the library for our monthly calendar or find it on-line at www.auburnpubliclibrary.org/events.html.

Do
you have audiobooks, CDs, and videotapes?
We have a collection of 1,000 audiobooks, mostly unabridged that can be checked out for two weeks. We have a collection of 2,000 videotapes and DVDs that can be checked out for two days. We also have over 1,000 music CDs ranging from classical and pop/rock, to jazz and country. Our renewal policy varies on non-print materials.
9.
How
much does it cost to rent a videotape or audiobook?
You can borrow videotapes and audiobooks for a charge of $1.00 per item. Your donation goes to purchase new titles for our collection.
10.
Do
you have free passes to museums?
Free passes are available to Auburn Public Library cardholders for:
Children’s Discovery Museum, Augusta
Maine Wildlife Park, Gray (formerly the Gray Animal Farm)
Portland Museum of Art, Portland
Southworth Planetarium, Portland
Passes are provided through the generosity of the Auburn-Lewiston Kiwanis Club.

Can
I check on-line to see what materials are currently checked out against my
card?
Yes. Click on the "Renew Materials" link to the left and, using your name and library card number you can review your account, check to see what you have on reserve, and even renew materials that you have out.
12.
Can
I renew a book over the phone?
Yes, you can call us at 333-6640 x2 (or you can use our website) to renew your book, if it is not on reserve for someone else. Our website address is www.auburn.lib.me.us. You’ll need your library card number to renew on-line.
13.
Can
I call on the phone to see if you have a book?
Yes, call us at 333-6640 x4 and we will check our database. If we don’t own it, we may be able to get it for you through our Interlibrary Loan Service. You can also search our library catalog on-line at www.auburn.lib.me.us

can I volunteer at the library?
