Holds

Can’t find the latest book on the shelf?  Looking for something we don’t own? Place a hold on it today and we will notify you when it arrives.

To place a hold, go to the library catalog, http://ursus2.ursus.maine.edu/.

You can use the drop down menus to choose how you want to search (keyword, author, title, etc.) and if you want to limit to items owned by APL or search all Minerva libraries. Keyword is usually best so that you don’t need to have the title exactly correct.

Then enter the information in the box and hit submit.

If we have multiple items for your search terms, you will get a list of items. You may also see several formats for the same title, for example large print, audiobook and regular print. Choose the entry you want and click on it.

This is where you will see “Request”, with a red check mark.

Click on Request and then enter your last name and your library barcode number.

You should get a confirmation that the hold has been placed.

Then wait to hear from us! Once we have the item, you will have 1 week to pick up your hold.

**Looking for something not in the APL catalog?  Go to the box that says “Auburn Public Library” and click the down arrow.  Then change the location to “ALL MINERVA LIBRARIES” and submit.  If the title is at another Minerva library follow the steps above. If not, click the “search MaineCat” button to search other Maine libraries.

You may have ten outstanding holds at any given time.

Going on vacation and worried your hold may come in while you are gone? Too many books coming in at once? You can freeze your hold without losing your place in line.
