Request an Item APL does not Own

Online Requests

The library catalog allows patrons to search for materials owned, not only by Auburn Public Library, but also by other libraries in the state of Maine. So, if APL does not own the item you are looking for, you may still be able to find it in the catalog and request it for pick-up at Auburn Public Library. Find more information on how to request items through Minerva here.

Interlibrary Loans

If a book is unavailable through Minerva or Mainecat, we will be happy to request a copy for you from an out of state library.  Due to the cost in staff time and postage, we charge a $10 processing fee for this service.  In addition, we will pass along any charges from the lending library.  Many libraries will not charge us for the loan, but some do.  If you have a maximum amount you are willing to pay beyond the $10 processing fee, please let us know when you make the request.

For assistance with Interlibrary Loan requests, please contact the reference department, 333-6640, ext. 2.

We do not accept requests for ILL from libraries outside the Minerva or Mainecat systems.  Such requests should be made through the requesting library’s regional library.

To request a genealogy or local history search

The library offers limited searching of some genealogy and local history materials for those who are unable to visit the library. Please see our search services guidelines for details.
