Reichs, Kathy. “Speaking in Bones: a Novel”

Forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan knows exactly how to do her job but she’s at a loss wondering how to answer police detective Andrew Ryan’s marriage proposal. This problem takes a backseat when Hazel “Lucky” Strike an amateur detective who mines the internet for cold cases comes to Brennan with a tape recording of an unknown girl being held captive and terrorized. Strike is convinced that it is victim Cora Teague who went missing 3 years earlier. Even though Temperance has her doubts the evidence adds up so she travels on a forensic field trip to the backwoods where she encounters more untimely deaths, nocturnal phenomena and a sinister religious cult.
