Aging, Health, and Happiness, Sept. 22

Research consistently shows that elders are more likely to report being happy than those in any other age group.  This presentation will look at some of that research, consider why this finding is seen as surprising, and explore sources of happiness as we age.

This session will be presented by Jean Potuchek, a retired sociologist who spent most of her career teaching at Gettysburg College, where she was honored with an award for distinguished teaching.  She blogs about retirement and aging at Stepping Into the Future.

This program will take place in person, in the Androscoggin Community Room.

This presentation, part of a fall series entitled Senior College in the Community, is made possible by a partnership with Senior College at USM Lewiston-Auburn College.  Lewiston-Auburn Senior College has a long-standing relationship with community partners.  After two years of Covid constraints, Senior College in the Community programming is once again being offered.  In addition to this program, Senior College offers in person, Zoom, and hybrid enrichment classes.  For more information about Senior College, visit usm.maine.edu/seniorcollege.
