
The contest is open to adults and teens, separate contest for each. Choose one of three selected books, see handouts below or pick up a copy at the Reference Desk. Application and full contest details can be found in the handouts.
Timeline:
July 21st - Submissions due.
Adult contest submissions should be emailed to Izzy at iruta@auburnpubliclibrary.org.
YA contest submissions please email to Jenna at jfowler@auburnpubliclibrary.org.
Your email should include:
- “Book Cover Contest - [Your Name]” in the subject line.
- An image of your reimagined book cover scaled to 8.5 in. by 11 in.
- A complete application.
August 1st - 15th - Cast your vote [link or in-person form].
August 21st - Winners will be notified.
Guidelines: All APL policies must be followed.
- We advise that copies of the original work be submitted. If the original piece is submitted, we are not responsible for its safety and maintenance.
- Copies should either be on 8.5x11 paper or can be printed on that size.
- If an original piece is submitted to the library, the artist is responsible for picking it up after the contest. All work should be picked up from the Library by August 22nd, or it will become the property of the Library
- Works in progress will not be accepted.
- Covers must include the title and author.
- One submission allowed per person. Exhibits and Displays: Content
- Exhibits must be of an educational, cultural, or civic nature. Content must fall within the broad standards of community acceptability and be appropriate for all age groups, including children.
- Exhibits may not be for entrepreneurial or commercial purposes, for the solicitation of business, for profit, or for fundraising. Nor may they be for the purposes of religious proselytizing or partisan political recruitment. Exhibits and displays on religious or political topics are allowed if they are of an educational nature.
- The Library reserves the right to refuse or remove any materials judged unsuitable or to rescind permission for an exhibit/display for violation of this policy.
- Exhibit cases may not contain materials that will decay, become hazardous, or leave stains. Exhibitors will be charged for any damage caused by their display. Selection and Suitability
- The Library Director shall have the authority to consider or delegate consideration of requests and to grant permission to set up exhibits. Auburn Public Library’s Book Covers Reimagined!
- All exhibits will be considered in terms of the Library’s mission to provide educational and cultural enrichment. The following guidelines are used for this purpose.
- Suitability of subject matter and physical presentation
- Quality of presentation
- Local and regional interest
- Space requirements
