The Wanderer by Sharon Creech
A book review by Faith Thompson
Sophie was adopted when she was young and has a past — a past that haunts her. All she can remember is a huge white wave. So when her uncles and cousins decide to sail across the Atlantic Ocean on their small private sailboat, called the Wanderer, to visit Bompie, their grandfather, she decides to go along to see if she can overcome her past.
On the way, Sophie tells stories about Bompie — stories that none of her family have ever heard before. Her cousin Cody is learning to accept her. But in the face of a horrible storm, can Sophie find the strength to leave the past behind? You will have to read to find out.
