Event Details

Please plan to join us to read and discuss "What Happened To You?  Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing" by Bruce D. Perry, M.D., Ph.D., and Oprah Winfrey.  Discussions will focus on the book's four main concepts:  brain development, trauma, resilience, and healing.  This discussion group will be facilitated by Donna Wallace, Adult Services Manager at APL, and Lynne Fuller from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Maine.

This specific book was selected as a community-wide book read and discussion to support the initiatives of the Androscoggin Community Health Stakeholders' Coalition.  The goal is to improve the resilience of Androscoggin County youth and adults affected by Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences (PACEs).

This program is offered in partnership with Auburn Adult Education.  Classes will meet on Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. from March 7 through April 11 at Edward Little High School.  To register, please go to http://www.auburn.maineadulted.org/.  Online registration opened on January 8.

The books will be provided to participants free of charge through a grant from the Maine Humanities Council.
