Program Description

Join us as we consider how home energy efficiency improvements can help you save money and be more comfortable at home!

This talk will cover some building science basics and provide a range of different free and low cost actions or projects that can help improve both your comfort and monthly utility bills. We'll also explore the role of 'energy coaching', free programs that can help support residents interested in bigger home upgrades. This talk is led by Mika Heming, the director of the retrofitMAINE initiative with the nonprofit passivhausMAINE.

Mikaela Heming serves as the director of passivhausMAINE’s retrofitMAINE Initiative, which uses high-performance building science and energy efficiency principles to help Maine homes become greener, safer, more comfortable, and more affordable. Previously, Mika has spent time in Massachusetts, working with UMass and USGS, New Hampshire, as part of UNH and NH Sea Grant, and spent five years in the Gulf south helping communities adapt to sea-level rise and other coastal hazards.
