The Auburn Public Library is proud to offer a reading and discussion group during which we will focus on connecting and building community.  What attributes do we share that connect us as members of a global community?  How can we gain a greater understanding of and empathy for one another?  Our reflections will be based on books and articles.   Any books or articles we read will be provided to the group members, and the books are for participants to either keep for their library or to share with someone else.

Our monthly discussions will be co-facilitated by Donna Wallace, the Library Director at the Auburn Public Library, and Jamil Mouehla, a recent graduate of Bates College who has chosen to stay in Maine to live and work.  At Bates, Jamil majored in math and digital computational studies and currently resides in Augusta working as a Data Analyst for MaineHealth.  He has held many positions in the Lewiston/Auburn community, from patient services to teaching in a local school district.  Jamil is looking forward to continuing his community contributions and is excited to be a co-facilitator for this class.

Meetings will be held weekly, on Thursdays, as follows:  September 18, 25; October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; November 6, 13, 20.  All meetings will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and will take place at Auburn Adult Education, Edward Little High School, 77 Harris Street.

This program is in partnership with Auburn Adult Education and funded, in part, by a grant from the Maine Public Library Fund.

Registration is required through Adult Education; to register, click here and scroll to the program description (Connection & Community).  For more information, please email Donna Wallace at dwallace@auburnpubliclibrary.org.
