Guidelines for Computer Use

The Auburn Public Library does not support or endorse the illegal use of the Internet in any manner and is not responsible for any such illegal or inappropriate use.

Computer Shut-Down:  All computers turn off automatically each day, 15 minutes before closing.  Any work you have not saved when your computer shuts off will be lost and cannot be retrieved.  If you are unsure of Library hours, please click Hours & Location at the top of the page.

Cell Phone Use:  Please turn off or set your cell phone to vibrate while in the Library.  If you must make or receive a call, please check at the Reference Desk for an appropriate place to do so.

Filtering:  In compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act, internet access at the Auburn Public Library is filtered.  Any adult customer may ask a staff member to turn the filter off before — or at any time during — their internet session.

Computer Help:  Library staff are trained to assist customers with research.  For questions about computer applications and websites not related to research, staff may help customers only as far as time and/or individual knowledge allows.

Library Card:  Customers may use computers with a valid Auburn or Lewiston Public Library card (it is a joint card).  Those who reside outside of Auburn, Lewiston or Minot may request a Guest Pass at the Reference Desk; at that time, they will be asked their name and town of residence.  Non-residents may purchase a library card for $15 per quarter or $60 per year.  Doing so helps us maintain the funding that pays for this service.

Printing:  The cost of printing is .10 cents per page (black & white), .25 cents per page (color).

If you have any questions, please see a Librarian at the Reference Desk.

THANK YOU!
