Career Assistance

APL has the resources you need to find a first job, make a career change, polish your resume, or help you earn a degree. If you’re an absolute beginner who needs to learn how to use a computer to improve your job prospects, we can assist you with that too!

There are several dedicated computers available in the computer lab with internet access and word processing software. These computers are strictly for job search and academic needs. Simply check in at the Reference Desk. Please note that time is limited to 3 consecutive hours and food and drink is not permitted in the Computer Lab.

CareerCenter Appointments

The Maine CareerCenter provides a variety of employment and training services at no charge for Maine workers and businesses. Whether you are looking to improve your job qualifications, explore a different profession, find a new career, or start a new business, the Career Center can help.

CareerCenter services are available at the Auburn Public Library once a week.  At that time, a Career Consultant will be on hand to assist with career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, effective interviewing skills, job search essentials, and more! Customers will be seen on a first come-first serve basis and should check in at the Reference Desk (2nd floor) upon arrival. To check the schedule, visit the Events page of our website or call the Reference Desk at 207-333-6640, ext. 4.

Appointments are also available with a Career Consultant via Zoom. We can set you up with a webcam in one of our private study rooms and, should you need help during your appointment, we will be nearby to lend support. We are one of several libraries in the state piloting this program. Call or email the Reference Desk for more information — 207-333-6640, ext. 4 or reference@auburnpubliclibrary.org.
