Bleach Volume 2

by Tite Kubo

Ichigo Kurosaki is the main protagonist of Bleach. He is known for his large sword and orange spiky hair. He had always been able to see ghosts which is unique in his world. Everything changes when he meets this girl named Rukia Kuchiki. She is a soul reaper, her job is to kill hollows, which are spirits that get lost on their way to the soul society and succumb to corruption. Humans aren’t supposed to be able to see soul reapers, so she’s shocked when he can see her. Ichigo’s family gets attacked by a hollow, and Rukia underestimates the power of it. She gets hurt and decides to transfer some of  her power to Ichigo. He accidentally takes way too much, and becomes a soul reaper himself. She’s now stuck in the human world while Ichigo is a substitute soul reaper.

I really like where the story is going. I find it much more engaging than other similar manga like Naruto. I think that it definitely has potential to be great, and likely already is great since 74 volumes have been released. I’m not sure why I waited so long to read it, because I’ve been missing out. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Shōnen manga. Even if you’re on the older side, I feel like you definitely can still be interested since there’s some darker themes. Not a childish story but also not a mature one either. Parts of this volume were a little slow, but that’s to be expected since it’s very early in the story. Still an amazing start to a manga.
