Program Description

Event Details

Christine Guerette, program manager at Lake Stewards of Maine, will be giving a talk about the status of invasive plants in Maine lakes and addressing questions like how prevalent are they and how destructive can they be to the environment. Participants will learn about the volunteers who do plant surveys and how they got started. For folks who live on lakes or visit them frequently, there will be a lot of information that will be helpful for prevention and for becoming active in the work. Lake Stewards has been an amazing force for protection of our fresh water habitat.

Christine Guerette is the program manager and 15-year veteran of keeping Maine lakes clean and free of invasives at Lake Stewards of Maine. Christine has been with the Lake Stewards of Maine for 18 years and over that time she has filled a number of different roles, from volunteer training to data management to program and office management, but her favorite part of her work is the chance to interact closely with dedicated volunteers and to educate the public about important environmental issues.
