What are the Biggest Threats to Arctic Birds and Loons? (Senior College in the Community)

We are excited to introduce Micah Miller, Ph.D, director of the Arctic Program and Loon Program at the Biodiversity Research Institute in Portland, ME for this Tuesday's Senior College in the Community presentation. Biodiversity Research Institute's mission is to assess emerging threats to wildlife and ecosystems through collaborative research. During this presentation, participants will learn about the research being conducted to determine the biggest threats to Arctic bird and loon populations.

Micah Miller is a broadly-skilled avian ecologist with specialty in waterbirds and environmental toxicology. He joined BRI in 2023 after working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Alaska for many years. His background includes a wide range of projects on waterfowl, upland birds, and seabirds, especially for nesting ecology, contaminants, and endangered species conservation. He is now focusing on conservation of loons and Arctic birds, as well as legacy and emerging contaminants impacting North American bird populations.
