Lewiston-Auburn Senior College will partner with the Auburn Public Library again this year to present uplifting films from across the continents.  Expect cinematic excellence, breathtaking scenery, and insights into human nature across cultures, so different yet so universal.

Each week on Tuesday, February 3 through March 10, we will show a film in person at APL, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

A half-hour discussion will follow each movie and will be facilitated by Bill Frayer. Bill is a long-time Senior College instructor with degrees from Brown and USM who taught for many years at CMCC.

If you are interested in participating in the discussion portion, but would like to watch the movie on your own, all movies can be found on Kanopy, available with a library card from either the Lewiston or Auburn Public Library.  If you do not have a library card and are from Auburn, Lewiston, or Minot, you are eligible for a free library card.  Please contact the Lending Desk at 207-333-6640, ext. 3.

Our movie for today will be Antonia's Line (The Netherlands, run time 1:42):  "In the aftermath of WWII, strong-willed Antonia returns to her small hometown where she has inherited her mother’s farm. Antonia, joined by her free-spirited artist daughter Danielle, ingratiates themselves with the town’s tight-knit and eccentric community. As the years unfold, love and tragedy come to Antonia and Danielle and the pair foster a vibrant circle of strong, liberated women." (from Kanopy.com)

The in-person viewing of the films will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room. The discussion for this film will start at approximately 2:50 p.m.

You do not need to be a member of Lewiston Auburn Senior College to participate in this series.
