Staff Review: The Woman in Me

The Woman in Me

By Brittany Spears

Brittany Spears shares her journey as one of the most popular pop artists of all time.

I just recently finished The Woman in Me by Britney Spears and it was riveting. I couldn't stop listening to it. Although it would've been nice for Britney herself to record the book, I can understand why it must've been hard for her. The book encounters her childhood, all the way through her marriage to Sam Asgari. Although they are divorcing, this book was written before then. There were many questions I had for her family, as to why they felt the need to control her the way they did. She didn't even say she was having any kind of delusions, which would've normally led people to hospitalize someone. But for a woman to have had back-to-back births, it isn't surprising to me that she couldn't regulate her emotions. Her husband, Kevin Federline seemed to be nowhere to be seen, which is also curious because he sought sole custody, something that didn't quite make sense, given that he was never home with the kids. I used to be a huge fan of Justin Timberlake but now I just see him as a mediocre man. He built his career off of Britney. It seems like she can't find any genuine relationships, all anyone wants to do is use her. While I have been a Britney fan, I am even more so now after hearing her story. Her father did a number on her and so did many others in her life. She deserves all the happiness in life and a chance for her to be herself.
